We want to capture this time beautifully and to document your growing family and celebrate pregnancy. Ideally these sessions are done between 28-34 weeks. We want to find a balance between when your baby bump has filled in nicely and when you are still comfortable. Studio sessions are offered at the DRP studio located in Lakewood, WA. On Location Maternity sessions are available in the Lakewood area(by default Mayflower in Frederickson, Steilacoom Park or a creek/wooded area is available) and are done in the last hour or two of daylight for outdoor sessions. For all maternity sessions, maternity gowns and accessories are available for use. For on location sessions, I bring a pop up changing tent for outfit changes.
Choose clothing colors that reflect your style and what sort of look you want for your images. Neutrals and muted tones photograph well. You want the session to reflect your style and be timeless. Soft flowing fabrics and light and airy images for example.
Maternity wear and some accessories are available for use as seen below. If using a maternity gown, or lace and wrapping materials, you will need undergarments to compliment the gowns(white, cream or nude undies, etc) . Here are some additional suggestions on what to bring. Cream, white or nude undies/boyshorts are suggested to go with the maternity gowns unless using a colored gown then something to compliment. Bandeau, strapless bras, boy shorts, tight dresses or mai skirts, tight tank-tops, button down sweaters or shirts.
If bringing your own outfits to wear especially during the fall and winter, consider layering(this goes for the whole family)!
Be sure your nails are either polish free or freshly done as they will show up in the photos.
If your partner or children will be in the photos, I recommend solid and simple. A button up, polo or tee.
Eat a good meal before the session
Drink plenty of water prior and consider bringing a snack for during if a long session.
While I will direct the session, feel free to interact throughout the poses and transitions. Kiss your kids, or spouse, be playful and joke around. Spin around in your dress. These types of genuine interactions help to capture the real raw emotion and beauty in your session.
